Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just revealed their Wedding date!

Congratulations!

It’s happening! It’s really happening! Prince Harry and fiancée Meghan Markle just revealed the day that they will tie the knot. Mark your calendars, everyone, and prepare to call in sick to work, because the Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be on—drumroll, please!—May 19, 2018.

Just a day after the couple’s royal engagement was announced, a statement released by palace officials revealed that Prince Harry and Markle will wed in May 2018 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England. “Her Majesty the Queen has granted permission for the wedding to take place at the Chapel,” the statement read. “The Royal Family will pay for the wedding. Further details about the wedding will be announced in due course.” Sadly, no specific date had been set at the time, leaving us waiting in anticipation.

Fortunately, we weren’t waiting long, as Kensington Palace announced today that the pair will wed on May 19, 2018. “His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle will marry on 19th May 2018,” read the royal announcement on the Palace’s Twitter page. “Today’s announcement follows earlier confirmation of the month of the wedding and its location at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.”

Their wedding venue has also seen its fair share of previous royal weddings, including Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla’s blessing in 2005. Harry was also baptised at the chapel in 1984. This location offers a smaller, more intimate venue than Westminster Abbey, where Prince William and Kate Middleton wed in 2011.

One of the reasons that Prince Harry has wanted this wedding to happen quite quickly—this is really whirlwind by royal standards—is because his 96-year-old grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, is retired now and Prince Harry really wants him to be at his wedding. He’s incredibly close to his grandfather and, being 96, Harry thought it was it was a great thing to [have] the wedding sooner rather than later, so his grandfather could be there, fit and healthy.

With only six months until the wedding, these two better get a move on with wedding planning! We can hardly wait for more wedding details to emerge closer to the date—most important what dress Markle will wear. If her glamorous engagement ring is any indication of what the royal wedding will be like, we’re all in for a treat. Stay tuned!
